Berwyn Heights, my old neighborhood, has had a remarkable run over the past 20 years of Mayor’s resigning or moving. By my count this is the sixth since the late 1990s.
Tiwana Gaines resigned to be appointed as a State Delegate for District 22. Tom Love resigned to be appointed as a County judge. Brad Jewitt resigned as his Marine reserve unit was called up for the 2nd Persian Gulf War. Cheye Calvo resigned to move to California to accept a job offer. Cheryl Jewitt (and her husband Brad) sold their house and moved to National Harbor as her term as mayor was ending. And now Chris Rasmussen has resigned after two months to move to Denver.
The current mayor is being asked by the Council to resign.
